Ezra Miller has undergone a stunning transformation from a once-timid child star to a Hollywood A-lister and bona fide queer icon.

The actor looks set to play a massive role in the future of the Harry Potter franchise, after Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald put his character front-and-centre of the action.

Miller is also set to become the first out actor to star in a superhero blockbuster when DC Comics gets around to making their repeatedly-delayed The Flash movie, following on from 2017’s Justice League.

The American actor has grown up in the public eye, transforming from a reserved schoolboy into a gloriously queer butterfly.

The star first got into acting as a teen in 2008, with a 16-year-old Ezra Miller starring in Antonio Campos’ Afterschool.

After dropping out of school to pursue acting full time, Miller secured small recurring roles in TV shows Californication and Royal Pains.

The actor burst into the mainstream for the first time in 2010 opposite Tilda Swinton, when he played psychotic teen Kevin in thriller We Need to Talk About Kevin.

The film, an adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s novel of the same name, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and earned acclaim for both of its stars.

The 18-year-old Miller went from success to success, landing a starring role as gay teen Patrick in acclaimed teen rom-com The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

The actor spoke about identifying as queer for the first time in an interview with Out magazine ahead of the film’s 2012 release.

After ageing out of teenage roles, Ezra Miller went on to appear in 2014 period drama Madame Bovary, and 2015 docudrama The Stanford Prison Experiment, growing long hair and a beard.

Miller underwent a major make-over when he was cast as superhero The Flash, making his debut in 2016 team-up movie Justice League.

These Ezra Miller pictures just get better. The actor bulked up and donned a red supersuit for the role, while DC Comics also announced plans for him to star in his own solo movie based on the character.

The lifelong Harry Potter fan also appeared as Credence, a neglected orphan with a questionable haircut, in 2016 Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

The actor pulled off a performance so impressive that his character’s presumed death was swiftly retconned, allowing Miller to return to to the franchise for future follow-ups.

With the attention of two of the world’s biggest fandoms, superheroes and Harry Potter, Miller became a regular at Comic-Con, where he showed off his nerdy side.

The actor’s elaborate cosplays became a staple of the conference, appearing as Gandalf from Lord of the Rings in 2016 and Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist in 2017.

At 2018 Comic-Con, Miller dressed as a sexy Toadette from Mario, getting everyone’s attention as the queer actor played with gender ideals.

Miller explained he does not identify as male or female, but uses he/him pronouns.

As 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald lined Miller up for an even bigger role in the wizarding franchise, Miller was busy waging a one-person war on the gender binary, wearing a series of iconic, eye-catching outfits while promoting the film.

Miller wore a black PVC outfit on November 8, at the film’s premiere in Paris, France, with the actor likened to a “human sex toy” on social media.

The star pulled off another eye-popping lewk at the UK premiere on November 13. Miller wore an all-white feathered outfit.

His hands bore the text of Harry Potter killing curse ‘Avada Kedavra’.

Ezra Miller became a Playboy star for the magazine’s December edition, in an array of high heels, fishnet stockings and assorted bunny frocks.

The star’s outfits might have RuPaul gagging, but there’s plenty of meaning behind them.

Speaking to ES Magazine earlier this month, Miller said that he has been attacked on several occasions because of the way he dresses.

He said: “I’ve been physically attacked in public for wearing short floral overalls.”

Reeling off a list, he added: “I’ve been attacked in New Jersey, New York City, Asheville, North Carolina at a Waffle House…”

In addition to the still-upcoming Flash movie, currently touted for 2021, Miller is attached to star as Salvador Dali in upcoming biopic Dali Land.
