Is Fortnite 60fps on PS4?

Epic Games’s Fortnite: Battle Royale is compulsive to play and it has a compelling visual style to match.

One reason to partly explain the runaway success of Fortnite as an online video game is the careful attention its developers have paid to the title’s design and visual elements.

Not entirely realistic, not entirely cartoonish, the game’s look lies in a pleasing middle ground between true-to-life and comic book. Its bright colour scheme and humorous character costumes only add to the fun of the – already extremely fun – gameplay.

So it’s not surprising that Fortnite devotees would want to enjoy playing the latest season of the game with the highest possible visual quality on offer. When the game launched in 2017, it was initially at a frame-rate of 30 FPS. But has that changed and is it the same on every console?

is fortnite 60 fps on ps4?

The answer is yes. Ever since V.3.0.0 was released in February 2018, the game has given Xbox and PS4 users the option of 60 FPS. When Epic Games released v.3.4 they announced that they were removing 30 FPS as an option and keeping the game locked on 60FPS.

Unfortunately for Nintendo users, the Switch version of the game has a ceiling of 30 FPS. Since Epic Games have only just brought the game to the console, it’s probably fair to say that improving the smoothness of the frame-rate isn’t their first priority for now.

However, Switch users shouldn’t feel too downcast. The game was originally ceilinged in 30 FPS for PS4 and Xbox before making the transition to a higher frame-rate.

Although there is some annoyance about the disparity this causes for gamers on different platforms (the game is soon becoming fully cross-platform), the issues concerning different lag times will almost certainly be on Epic Games’s radar for the future.
