A gay couple who became famous from making YouTube videos of their lives together have announced their split after five years in a tear-jerking video.

Mark E. Miller and Ethan Hethcote told fans that their relationship was over in the emotional video, which was posted on their YouTube channel yesterday.

The video was recorded in Ethan’s new apartment, which is just a five minute walk away from Mark’s apartment.

Ethan spoke openly in the video about how their professional lives and their personal lives “just got really intertwined” during their “very fast, very fun, very exciting five years” together.

“I don’t mean to say that in a bad way, because it’s an awesome thing,” he added. “I’m so grateful for the experiences that we’ve had. We just need to re-evaluate how we’re doing individually, because everything was just so habitually together.

“The moral of this story is the RuPaul saying: ‘If you can’t love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?’” he added.

Mark also spoke candidly about the relationship in the video.

“Something you had said, and I think will always stick with me, is that you want to appreciate my love. There are days that I don’t appreciate him, and I don’t want that to be a thing. I don’t want that to happen.”

Ethan also said that he had seen other “beautiful” relationships go into bad places because “the realities of life aren’t dealt with.”

“That’s not what I want to happen here, and that’s why this is happening. No matter what, I just f**king love you, and if that means you need to figure stuff out, and I need to figure stuff out, I want that to happen.”

Mark added that the break-up was “not a big deal.”

“This is such a positive move for both of us and there’s no black and white – it’s not like we’re together or we’re not together. It’s just like, we’re just people. We’re really good friends, and we’re best friends, and I just want both of us to listen to ourselves and respect each other enough to let us make big decisions in life.

“Now I’m getting a little teary eyed,” he added.

Before concluding the video, they said that they had learned “so much about life together” and joked that they would be each other’s “phone a friend.”

Some fans began to speculate in the comments about the causes of their breakup, which prompted Mark to clarify that they had recorded for 40 minutes and had edited it down to five.

“People will believe what they want to no matter what you do, but for what it’s worth, please gosh darn just calm yourself!” he said.
