Canadian Armed Forces immediately began a search and deployed coast guard vessels and military aircraft, however they were forced to call it off yesterday after no clues were found.

They said they were calling the search off “given the short survivability time due to the temperature of the water at this time of year,” reports BBC News.

Reports say that his case has now been handed over to police and he is being treated as a missing person.

His father told Bild newspaper after his disappearance that he was clinging “to the hope that somehow still everything will be fine.”

The devastating disappearance took place on a cruise that was due to travel to New York after leaving Hamburg on 29 August.

Küblböck rose to fame in Germany after he appeared on the first season of the German version of Pop Idol, in which he came in third place.

After the show, he signed a contract with BMG and went on to release four singles and one album. He later appeared in the German version of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and starred in a film called Daniel The Wizard, where he played himself.

The Sun reports that he opened up about his mental health issues and experience of bullying just weeks ago on Facebook.

He allegedly said that he had endured “months of bullying” that shook him deeply as a child.

“I still do not feel better mentally and physically. I have yet to cope with this pain of the past months.”

His older brother Michael, who was allegedly a neo-Nazi, died in Berlin in 2013 after a heroin overdose.
