Sometimes they just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls…

Looks like singers Rita Ora and Bebe Rexha were inspired by the opening lyrics of their recent collaborative track “Girls” at the MTV Video Music Awards on Monday (August 20) as they locked lips and held hands while posing for paparazzi on the red carpet.

Attending the New York-based event together, the puckered-up pair took to the stage later on to introduce Colombian artist Maluma, who performed “Felices Los 4.”

Rexha, whose real name is Sabrina Carpenter, stood aside while Ora announced that she —and late DJ Avicii—had walked away victorious in the Best Dance category, winning for their single “Lonely Together.” The win wasn’t aired.

Paying tribute to the Swedish musician, Ora said: “I wanna take a minute to say, I just found out that Avicii and I won Best Dance, so let’s made some noise for Avicii right now. An amazing talent.”

While Ora took the time to reference the “Wake Me Up” hitmaker, Avicii fans were left disappointed by how little he featured in the ceremony, and that it didn’t include any kind of “In Memoriam” segment. The producer, whose real name was Tim Bergling, died in Oman on April 20.

Ora, whose most popular songs include “Hot Right Now” and “Anywhere,” came out as bisexual back in May after “Girls” was heavily criticised, labelled harmful to the LGBT+ community and called “downright tone-deaf” by queer musicians Kehlani and Hayley Kiyoko. She took to Twitter to say that the single represented “a very real and honest experience in [her] life.

“I have had romantic relationships with women and men and this is my personal journey,” the 27-year-old added. “I am sorry [if] how I expressed myself in my song has hurt anyone. I would never intentionally cause harm to other LGBTQ+ people or anyone.”

“Looking forward, I hope that continuing to express myself through my art will empower my fans to feel as proud of themselves as I’m learning to feel about who I am,” Ora continued.

Just a few months after her confession, the British pop star was seen smooching rapper Cardi B, who also appears on “Girls,” in its official music video. Around the same time, the latter revealed that she too has had relationships with women.
