Mulan is bisexual in Ralph Breaks the Internet, according to fans

LGBT+ Disney fans are convinced that Mulan is bisexual – and we’re inclined to believe them.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the live-action remake of the 1998 classic Mulan will not feature bisexual icon Li Shang when it’s released in 2020.

But don’t worry – not only will we get to see our favourite cross-dressing soldier sooner than expected in Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, but a promotional still has sparked speculation over sexuality.

The shot of all the Disney princesses gathered together in lounge gear shows Mulan reclining in a beanbag, wearing a varsity-style jacket, high tops and cuffed jeans.

Last year, the concept spread across the internet that, in its own words, “cuffing ur jeans and tucking in baggy shirts is bisexual culture.”

The meme has already expanded to include Spider-Man – or Bi-der Man, as the Marvel and therefore Disney character came to be known – and now Disney animators appear to have placed Mulan squarely in the same category.

Fans of the badass soldier are thrilled.

One said: “so.. I guess li shang ain’t the only bi in mulan.”

“I can’t believe Disney just confirmed Mulan is bi,” wrote another.

One person tweeted excitedly: “cinderella and elsa are so LOUD also anna is wearing a flannel she’s a lesbian confirmed mulan has cuffed jeans she’s bi confirmed and tiana’s hair with all the curls is everything.”

“Yall Mulan is a true bisexual icon nobody will tell me otherwise only bis wear high tops with rolled jeans and deem it comfortable,” wrote a fan.

Another enthusiast attracted more than 2,000 retweets and likes with a wonderful drawing of Mulan, “the Bi icon we all deserve.”

One person said: “Gotta love my bi icon Fa Mulan only gays sit like that.”

And another attracted more than 2,200 upvotes on Reddit by writing: “There is no way Mulan isn’t bi with jeans that cuffed.”

It’s actually pretty simple, according to this fan who wrote: “You cowards: mulan can’t be gay. Me: im bisexual and so is she.
