A bag of sex toys shut down Berlin Airport – because staff thought it was a bomb

A piece of luggage containing a number of sex toys, including a vibrator, temporarily shut down Berlin’s Schönefeld Airport’s Terminal D – after staff mistook it for a bomb.

Airport security were carrying out a routine X-ray bag search on Tuesday (August 7) when they came across “suspicious content in a luggage piece,” according to Berlin police, reports CNN.

Following the scan, staff alerted police because they were unsure what the bag contained, and the airport’s Terminal D was temporarily closed so that security could investigate the items.

The owner of the luggage was questioned but did not adequately explain what was inside the bag, which police said may have been due to embarrassment, brushing the contents off as “technical stuff.”

A bomb squad was even called in during the investigation, which lasted for about an hour.

Authorities finally confirmed that the items inside the bag were sex toys, before the terminal re-opened at around noon.

Schönefeld Airport posted on Twitter: “Due to police investigation concerning a piece of baggage, check-in at Terminal D is currently restricted.”

In a later tweet, the airport added: “Police Investigation is over. Terminal D reopened. However, further impairments in passenger handling possible.”

In the UK, meanwhile, a suspected anarchist recently left a hot pink dildo on Jacob Rees-Mogg’s wife’s Land Rover – and hung condoms on to a cross in the Conservative MP’s garden at his family home in Somerset.

The culprit also spray painted messages on Rees-Mogg’s patio window in West Harptree, including “posh scum” and “politics death,” alongside an anarchist symbol, reports The Sun.

Rees-Mogg is known for his controversial views, opposing equal marriage and abortion in any circumstances, including rape cases.

He also campaigned for Britain to leave the European Union.

The vandal also graffitied the garage door with “shut up and die,” and wrote “t***t” on an umbrella stand.

The incident took place on Wednesday (August 1), when Rees-Mogg was on a family holiday in New York, USA.

A house maid reportedly discovered the dildo and graffiti on Thursday morning.
