Canadian leader Justin Trudeau is having brunch with Antoni Porowski and some lucky guests
Canadian fans of Netflix’s hit Queer Eye series rejoiced at the news that the show’s food and wine expert, their compatriot Antoni Porowski, will be having brunch with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and two lucky guests.
Canada’s ruling Liberal Party has announced that Porowski and Trudeau will host “a special brunch reception” in Montreal, the hometown of the Queer Eye star, during the city’s Pride celebration, which runs from August 9 to August 19. The party made available two tickets for the event via a competition on its website open to donors of the political organisation.
One lucky winner will be chosen on August 3 upon answering a “skill-testing question,” and will be able to bring a guest along for the ride. “Three nights accommodation, a $200 dinner voucher, and a swag bag of Liberal gear,” are included in the prize.

Ahead of the announcement, the Liberal Party teased the event in an Instagram story, featuring a blurred-out photo of Porowski with a series of emoji that best symbolised the event—of course, the Queer Eye’s star penchant for avocado-based recipes was included.
Trudeau has been a vocal support of LGBT+ causes and a regular presence at Pride parades across the country, including Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. He also appeared on the cover of Attitude magazine in December, making history as the first world leader to pose for the British publication.
Celebrating the news, fellow Queer Eye star, grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness, took the opportunity to throw shade at world leaders who have not been as open to LGBT+ people, namely US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Van Ness was not as supportive when another one of his fellow “Fab Five,” culture expert Karamo Brown, had a meeting at the White House. Brown met with Second Lady Karen Pence and her chief of staff which Van Ness labeled a pointless choice because “she doesn’t like us,”—but in an interview to Mic, Brown he brushed off the criticism.
“Our approaches are different, but our goal is the same. And for me, it’s always been that I have to reach out to people who have shut me out or who try to shut me out. Historically, that’s the only way as African-Americans, as gay people, that we have been able to affect change,” he said.
