Abusive Trump fan goes viral calling his neighbour ‘a gay Asian with AIDS who hates America’

A Donald Trump supporter who picketed his neighbour with a sign branding him “a gay Asian with AIDS who hates America + fireworks” has gone viral.

The man, identified in the video as Matt Sherman, is shown sitting in front of an Orlando home with the abusive placard, which states on the other side: “A Butt Hurt Trump Hater lives Here. Who’s the Keyboard Warrior Now?”

The display of hate, though perhaps particularly offensive because it took place in the city where 49 people were killed at gay nightclub Pulse in 2016, is not unprecedented from Trump fans.

Sherman’s actions, which have been viewed more than 120,000 times on Facebook, were reportedly the result of an argument on the NextDoor app – a private social network for neighbours – according to Orlando Weekly.

After the man who Sherman is picketing confronts him on camera about his sign, the Trump fan tells him he’s not ashamed of the message, saying: “Loud and proud, baby.”

While laughing, the man taking the video tells viewers: “He thinks I’m gay and he thinks I have AIDS. I don’t even really care about fireworks!

“He lives with his parents,” he adds.

By sitting outside his neighbour’s house with the placard, Sherman appears to have broken a Florida law which bans the picketing of homes.

The state’s Ordinance 43.42 reads: “It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to picket before or about any residential or dwelling unit of any person.”

Trump supporters have, of course, committed abusive acts like this before.

Last year, one fan of the President told a lesbian couple that they were “unnatural” and “going to burn in hell” as they were celebrating their anniversary.

Californian couple Jessica Lundquist and Tiffany Steinberg, who have 32,000 YouTube subscribers on their joint channel, told viewers that the man got in their faces and asked: “Did you know that you’re sinners?”

The pair detailed how they told him to leave repeatedly, but he kept asking if they were aware that “when you got to hell, you can never leave hell.”

He told them they were “abnormal,” must have “issues with men” and said he couldn’t believe “they let you move” to Orange County, where the pair live.

And a poll last year revealed that two years on from the Supreme Court’s ruling on equal marriage, Trump voters still do not support same-sex unions.

Despite 60 percent of US voters supporting same-sex marriage – a record high – just 37 percent of Trump voters were in favour of equal marriage.

Earlier this month, Trump sparked outrage when it was reported that he had drained HIV/AIDS funding to pay for child migrant detention.
