Queer Eye got four Emmy nominations and the Fab Five are freaking out

Queer Eye is officially Emmy-nominated.

The Fab Five’s loft may soon have some glam trophies to make those furnishings pop, as the Netflix makeover show landed a major vote of confidence.

A reboot of TV classic Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, the new Queer Eye stars Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk and Jonathan Van Ness.

It today landed an Emmy Award nomination for Structured Reality Program.

Across its first two seasons, both released this year, Queer Eye has won praise for its unflinching approach to hard-hitting issues, from race in America to religious homophobia and transgender issues.

The show will have competition from Antiques Roadshow, Fixer Upper, Lip Sync BattleShark Tank and Who Do You Think You Are?.

It’s also up for three technical awards – Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program, Outstanding Picture Editing For A Structured Or Competition Reality Program and Outstanding Casting For A Reality Program

There’s even more excitement for hair expert Jonathan Van Ness, who is also up for an Outstanding Short Form Variety Series award for his web series Gay of Thrones.

The Fab Five reacted to the news in pretty much the way you’d expect, with a freak-out followed by a synchronised dance routine.

France wrote: “4 EMMY NOMINATIONS? THIS IS HOW WE CELEBRATE.”

The cast members all shared their thanks to the news.

Van Ness wrote: “To be recognized in this way moves me to tears, the gratitude, the love, gahhhhhh!! I love you all so so so much.”

Sharing a photo of the Fab Five as the Incredibles, Karamo Brown wrote: “We feel Incredible right now! @queereye got FOUR #EmmyNominations so proud of my brothers.”

Antoni Porowski wrote: “Queer Eye nominated for 4 Emmys. Insanely grateful and proud of every associate producer, assistant, executive, production team member, casting, editors, show runners, and OG Fab Five for making it all possible. Oh, and @tanfrance @bobbyberk @KaramoBrown @jvn too duh. ❤️”

Bobbi Berk added: “That moment your show gets nominated for 4 Emmys!!! What an honor!!! Couldn’t have done it without the people you see here plus all the rest of our family at @netflix, @itv_america, and @scout.productions #emmys”

Queer Eye’s far from the only LGBT show nominated.
