We can’t stop shipping Cate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson in this chaotic Ocean’s 8 interview

Cate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson descended upon The Today Show onTuesday to talk about their upcoming film Ocean’s 8. Well, that was the intention anyway…

As it turns out the comedic co-stars weren’t too keen on answering any questions that day, so they didn’t. Instead, they turned on the charm and chaos ensued.

But fans of the twosome couldn’t help but revel in their antics as they teased one another about their outfits, Paulson joked about Blanchett always stealing the limelight and they both caused television host Hoda Kotb to cry with laughter.

“I don’t know who she is. Never met her,” Paulson began, setting the tone for the rest of the live interview, before Kotb said: “You guys clearly have a thing going on…”

“No, it’s over,” Blanchett replied sarcastically, as Paulson added: “It ended about an hour ago, just so you know. We’re having a hard time.”

Then the pair bickered about accolades, as Blanchett was referred to as an Oscar-winner during the segment but Paulson’s Emmy win wasn’t acknowledged.

The Aussie actor then playfully claimed that Paulson only won an Emmy due to herself and the rest of the Ocean’s 8 cast writing letters to the awards saying: “Please, give her something because [then she can have a title] when it comes round to publicising the movie.”

Later, the dynamic duo got to talking about Carol, the lesbian romance drama they starred opposite each other in back in 2015.

“She was nominated for an Academy award, which she did not win,” Paulson shouted. “She did not win that one, OK, you guys! It doesn’t happen every time, out of the gate, you know? She tried. She wore dresses. It was a whole thing but she did not win.”

Kotb tried to get the interview back on topic by asking who signed on to star in Ocean’s 8 first but that just provided material for Blanchett, who joked: “It was me. I tried to get out of it when I heard what the rest of the cast was going to be and they wouldn’t let me. I was contracted.”

The craziness continued when they pretended to be asleep and when Blanchett climbed onto Paulson’s lap in response to Kotb’s colleague Savannah Guthrie coming to join her on air.

The co-hosts also asked the stars about their future hopes for sequels and what it was like on the set of the film while also telling them that “they’re in love.”

Ocean’s 8, which is released in the UK on June 22, also stars Awkwafina, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway and Sandra Bullock.

It sees Bullock play the sister of Danny Ocean, George Clooney‘s character from the Steven Soderbergh trilogy, who puts together a team of highly-skilled individuals in order to steal a $150 million dollar necklace from a Met Gala guest during the event.

Blanchett and Paulson’s recent stint on The Today Show isn’t the first time the Ocean’s 8 women have been seen embracing their silly side.

The entire cast seem to be constantly cracking one another up during the film’s worldwide promotional tour; there’s rarely been an image captured where at least two of them aren’t giggling or covering their faces to disguise their fits of laughter.

If the fun they’ve been having off-set is anything to go by, Ocean’s 8 is set to be a hoot.
