Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown says Tom and Abby’s reunion nearly didn’t happen

Karamo Brown deletes Twitter following Sean Spicer controversy

Queer Eye‘s Karamo Brown has said that the reunion between fan favourites’ Tom Jackson and Abby Parr nearly didn’t happen.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, culture guru Brown admitted that – behind the scenes – he had already taken Jackson to “to meet different women” in speed dating-like situations and revamped his dating profile in a bid to reignite his love life.

Karamo said he had been trying to find Jackson a new suitor before the Fab Five discovered – during an exchange between food expert Antoni Porowski and Jackson – that the Kentucky man was still in love with his former wife Parr.

“Antoni shifted that episode,” said Brown, who had been taking Jackson on outings to meet women “to build his confidence.”

“Antoni catching that one [comment where Jackson mentions Parr] literally cut my scene out, which I’m happy about… All of a sudden we are on a bench and I’m like, ‘Call your ex-wife!’ [to invite her to the car show].”

Meanwhile, Porowski told Entertainment Weekly: “We all have those discoveries in one episode or another.”

Earlier this month, Jackson re-married Parr.

In the latest and most joyful twist in the long-running relationship saga, the protagonist of the Netflix show’s first episode tied the knot on March 27.

They eloped to a charming venue in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where they married each other without any of their friends or family present.

The newlyweds then embarked on a romantic honeymoon in the mountains.

Jackson, a self-proclaimed redneck, broke audience members’ hearts with his self-deprecating “can’t fix ugly” comments – but lifted their spirits as he reconnected with his ex-wife, Abby.

The end of his episode saw the “dumb old country boy from Kentucky” invite her on a date after telling viewers: “I love Abby more than anything.

“She says she loves me, I know I love her. You’ll have to ask her why she’s not with me.”

But on February 28, he took to Twitter to tell fans that the couple had once again broken up, writing: “I just watched my episode for about the 20th time. I cry   like a baby   [every] time I watch it.

“Just to let the world   know, Abby and I are no longer together. She will always be the love ❤️ of my life. I will always love ❤️ her more than anything!!!!!!!”

Fans were distraught – but that wasn’t the end of this rollercoaster of a relationship drama.

A week after announcing their split, Tom told fans that he and Abby were back together.

“So happy   to say that Abby and I are reunited   We’ve loved each other for many years and want to spend the rest of our lives together!!!!!!!!  ”

And in March, just 13 days after he announced that they had broken up, Tom took to social media to tell his followers that he and Abby were once again going to be man and wife.

“It’s official, Abby and I are engaged,” he wrote. “What a Netflix special the would be. If the Fab 5 planned and attended our wedding!!!!!!!!!”

Queer Eye season 2 will be released on Netflix on June 15.
