BBC shades Australia’s Jessica Mauboy at Eurovision with viral Miss Vanjie comparison

The BBC has thrown shade at Australia’s singer for 2018 Eurovision – likening her to drag star Miss Vanjie.

The broadcaster posted an image of Australian entrant Jessica Mauboy on Twitter, with the simple caption: “Miss Vanjie?”

The Australian singer performed pop track “We Got Love” for her country’s entry to the competition.

Drag star Miss Vanjie rose to fame on series 10 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Earlier tonight, British entrant Surie’s  rendition of “Storm” was disrupted when a man managed to get onto the stage and grabbed the microphone from the singer, reportedly shouting “for the Nazis of the UK media, we demand freedom,” which  temporarily halted her performance.

According to commentator Graham Norton, the singer was offered the chance to perform again, but turned it down.

More to come.
