Gay porn star Jimmy Durano seeks crowdfunding after life-saving brain surgeries

The friends and family of gay porn star Jimmy Durano have created a GoFundMe page to help cover medical costs after he was involved in a life-threatening car accident.

Durano has already had to undergo three invasive brain surgeries following a car accident that severely wounded him in mid-March. However, the adult film actor’s medical insurance will not cover all the hospital and surgery fees, leading to his close ones reaching out for help.

The Jimmy Durano needs our help GoFundMe page was created on April 26 and has raised $6,288 out of its $15,000 goal so far.

Durano addressed the GoFundMe on his Instagram account, writing he didn’t “feel good about this” and wished “things were different.”

He explained that although his insurance should cover 90 percent of his hospital fees, the length of his recovery time would leave him out of work from “eight months to a year.”

Durano’s friend Larry Mendelson created the campaign on his behalf.

“As you know he has a big heart and is always helping when his friends or loved ones are in trouble,” reads the page.

“Now it is Jimmy who really needs help from his beloved friends, colleagues, and fans.

“Your assistance will allow him to get through these surgeries as smoothly as possible without extra worry or stress,” it continued, “I can’t express enough, how each donation, no matter the amount, will bring so much help and relief to Jimmy in this trying time.”

Durano was left severely wounded after a car accident that occurred mid-March. The actor suffered internal injuries and had to spend most of the two weeks following the accident in intensive care (ICU).

According to the GoFundMe page, the actor underwent his first brain surgery during his stay in the ICU.

Complications led to his brain swelling up and required his surgeons to remove a part of his skull. The skull will remain open until the swelling around Durano’s brain has gone down.

While Durano was released from the hospital after two weeks, he still had to wear a helmet to protect his skull. The star documented parts of the ordeal on his Instagram account, writing: “Even [though] it was a serious and invasive surgery I am recovering well.”

But the actor was not out of woods yet.

According to Mendelson, Durano had to be re-admitted into the emergency unit shortly after going home due to a serious infection.

In an update to the GoFundMe campaign, Mendelson wrote that Durano had to undergo another surgery where doctors drained blood from his brain.

In several of his Instagram posts, the actor thanked the doctors and nurses at Regional Medical Center hospital who worked on his care, his fans, family and husband Christian Owen.
