Kehlani has come out as queer.

The 22-year-old singer made the announcement after years of public speculation and media reports labelling her as bisexual or a lesbian.

The star, whose debut album SweetSexySavage went to number three in the US last year, has also featured on tracks with Stormzy, Calvin Harris, Eminem, Zayn, Hayley Kiyoko and Cardi B.

On Sunday, she wrote on Twitter: “cuz i keep geddin asked.. i’m queer. not bi, not straight. i’m attracted to women, men, REALLY attracted to queer men, non binary people, intersex people, trans people. lil poly pansexual papi hello good morning. does that answer your questions? ✨”

The singer followed this up with a savage tweet criticising anyone who discriminates against queer people, saying: “if ur attracted to a man and then change your energy up when you find out he’s sexually ambiguous or queer, thass gross.”

She added that “you bout to miss out on some fye s**t.”

We couldn’t agree more.

When asked why she used the term “queer” instead of saying she was gay, the singer replied: “i felt gay always insisted there was still a line drawn as to which ‘label’ of human i was attracted when i really jus be walking around thinking ERRYBODY FINE.”

However, Kehlani – who caused a storm earlier this month by sharing a kiss with Demi Lovato on stage during one of Lovato’s concerts – later deleted the post, saying that she didn’t want to offend anyone with the term ‘queer.’

She said: “i retracted my queer tweet because i am being corrected about the way in which i listed the gender spectrum and i’m super super sensitive to being offensive especially when i’m only trying to appreciate.”

The US singer, who turns 23 tomorrow, then explained that she was attracted to all genders, writing: “point is, i love love, and that love lies in every gender there is. ”

She added: “i always want to be corrected & educated when i am wrong. if i tweet something any form of incorrect, please let me know because i have a massive responsibility by having a platform.”

This attracted praise from many commenters, with some hailing her as their “woke queen.”

While opening up about her sexuality, she also fired some shots at straight men, who – she said – were not worth her effort.

She wrote: “stopped explaining non binary queerness to cis straight men ages ago what a waste of precious energy .”

In another tweet, she addressed them directly, saying: “dear the most privileged ‘specific group group of people’ on planet earth.. shut. deHELLUP. ☺️”

All hail the queen.
