Janelle Monáe’s new video is a tribute to lesbian sex, vaginas and feminism

Janelle Monáe has dropped a new song and its video celebrates vaginas in every possible way.

The singer, who has already created a bisexual anthem in the shape of Make Me Feel, makes lesbian sex front and centre in PYNK.

The video, which already has more than 500,000 views, features women touching tongues and Monáe dressed in pussy pants, which Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson emerges from with a wide grin.

In Make Me Feel, Monáe repeatedly grinded up against Thompson – who played Marvel’s first bi superhero last year – before doing the same with a male actor.

No men are present in PYNK, allowing Monáe and Thompson to get even closer.

The musician sings: “Pink like the tongue that goes down – maybe,” before telling the viewer: “Pink like the lips around your, maybe / Pink like the skin that’s under, baby.”

Monáe continues: “Pink where it’s deepest inside, crazy / Pink beyond forest and thighs.”

“Pink like your fingers in my… maybe,” she adds, flirtily.

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate the pride with which Monáe sings about vaginas and women who love women.

Her unashamedly feminist, lesbian anthem even includes trans women, as some women are shown wearing various kinds of pussy pants, while other women have no pussy pants at all.

As the video’s description puts it, “PYNK is a brash celebration of creation. self love. sexuality. and pussy power!

“PYNK is the colour that unites us all, for pink is the colour found in the deepest and darkest nooks and crannies of humans everywhere.”

In making a song with this message, Monáe creates a spiritual successor to her feminist anthem Django Jane, in which she sings: “We gon’ start a motherf***in’ pussy riot / Or we gon’ have to put ’em on a pussy diet.”

In Make Me Feel, the singer accepts Thompson’s seductive offering of a lollipop, before stroking and humping her way through a series of women’s legs.

In PYNK, the two stars gaze at each other seductively over a series of women’s bums.

They also wrap themselves around each other at the end of the video.

Monáe and Thompson have attended the premieres of Annihilation – in which Thompson stars – and Black Panther together this year.

The singer, who also starred in 2016 Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures, has always kept her sexuality close to her chest.

After her debut album The ArchAndroid was released, she said: “The lesbian community has tried to claim me, but I only date androids.

“Nothing like an android, they don’t cheat on you.”
