The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix reboots the iconic 90s franchise from the minds behind Riverdale

TV shows from the 1990s are so en vogue right now. Will & Grace are back, The Golden Girls are returning as four gay men (seriously) and Dawson’s Creek just hooked up for a 20th anniversary shoot.

The latest Nineties show returning to trigger cult fans across the globe is Sabrina The Teenage Witch, which is being remade by Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

The new, darker reboot is being made for Netflix, and now the first revealing photos from the shoot have dropped and show an all-new Sabrina with her boyfriend Harvey, the same characters from the original TV show and comic series.

The Chilling Adventures is based on a graphic novel of the same name which also starred TV’s famed teenage witch, Sabrina, written by Aguirre-Sacasa.

“Well, it’s out there” Sabrina writer Rob gushed on Twitter. “A 1st look at Harvey and Sabrina from the “Chilling Adventures of .” ADORBS, right?

The image reveals the happy couple played by actors Kiernan Shipka (from Mad Men) and Ross Lynch, the latter who plays love interest Harvey is blithely unaware of Sabrina’s secret superpowers as a witch.

Sabrina is training to be a witch but doubling as a high school student in cahoots with demonic Madam Satan and high priest Father Blackwood.

Sabrina leads a complicated double life, managing her teenage representation while keeping her true identity away from those around her, like Harvey.

In contrast, Harvey is the son of a humble coal miner and has no clue as to the dark education Sabrina is embarking upon – sparks will fly, but not just yet.

Sabrina creator is behind Riverdale

Surreal dark comedies are the lifeblood of Sabrina creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is also in charge of cult hit Riverdale, which has announced its third season.

Last year the show, which explores the dark lives of the residents of the village of Riverdale, celebrated its first gay kissing scene.

Gay teen Kevin Keller had been pashing with closeted football star Moose, but fans had yet to see any of the action – but fans were repaid with a raunchy on-camera make-out sesh between Kevin and edgy character Joaquin.

The CW series is based on the Archie Comics series of the same name, however the modern televised reinterpretation has got a whole load more x-rated.

The show’s first two series have been very well received by critics and fans of the original comic series, and the second series will conclude in May 2018.

Sabrina The Teenage Witch

The Nineties American teen sitcom starring Melissa Joan Hart ran from 1996 until 2003 and gained over 17 million viewers across its lifetime on ABC.

In the TV show Sabrina finds out about her magical powers at her 16th birthday, which was a removal from the original comic series in which Sabrina was aware she was different from a very young age.

In the show Sabrina juggles her school life with her home life, where she lives with her 500-year-old witch aunts Hilda and Zelda, and magic talking cat Salem.
