Rose McGowan lashes out at BuzzFeed for ‘sexist narrow headline’

Rose McGowan has taken a swipe at BuzzFeed for a “sexist narrow headline” on an article about Demi Lovato.
The non-binary actor, whose sexual misconduct allegations against movie producer Harvey Weinstein helped spearhead the #MeToo movement, took to Twitter to criticise the article, which centres around a gay man citing their attraction to Demi Lovato in spite of their sexual orientation.
“I Might Be A Gay Man But Demi Lovato Grinding On Kehlani Has Me SWEATING – BuzzFeed. A sexist narrow headline,” wrote the actor on Twitter.
“‘Card carrying’ so u can’t be attracted by sexuality regardless of the gender it’s assigned to? This headline & story should be rethought,” she wrote.

A group of bewildered LGBT+ Twitter users have spoken out in confusion over McGowan’s statement, saying that the headline makes it clear that the man is attracted to Lovato “regardless” of gender.
However, it appears that the star soon forgave the news outlet and circulated one of their other news stories to show that there were no hard feelings.
McGowan recently came out as non-binary during a podcast appearance.

Offering their words on the Love Alexi podcast, McGowan told society to “f*ck off to your construct” and said that she doesn’t align with one particular gender.
“I don’t explain myself to people because what I’m saying is truth. I come in peace but I also come with f*ck off. That f*ck off is f*ck off to your construct, don’t judge me by what you grew up with. I didn’t grow up like you, I come from a different background,” McGowan said.
McGowan has been criticised for her anti-trans views, which came to light during a sparring match at a book launch for BRAVE in Barnes and Noble.
A trans woman in the audience questioned McGowan’s outburst on RuPaul’s podcast What’s the Tee, in which she said a “lot of the stuff I hear trans [women] complaining about… welcome to the world.”
“I have a suggestion: talk about what you said on RuPaul,” said a trans woman at the event. Trans women are dying and you said that we, as trans women are not like regular women,” said the woman.
“We get raped more often. We go through domestic violence more often. There was a trans woman killed here a few blocks [away]. I have been followed home.”
Communication soon broke down between the pair, which ended in McGowan leaving the stage and showing two fingers at the woman.
