Looks like Gina Rodriguez might play Rosa’s girlfriend on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’

In a slightly strange turn of events, it looks like actor Gina Rodriguez might actually appear as Rosa’s girlfriend in ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’.
Rodriguez, of ‘Jane the Virgin’ fame, had already shown a heavy interest in appearing as the love interest of Detective Rosa Diaz, played by Stephanie Beatriz.
Beatriz had also said she wanted Rodriguez to play the role, after her character came out as bisexual earlier in the season.
In an interview, she said: “[I] love Gina Rodriguez, and think she would be fantastic.”
And Rodriguez subsequently tweeted: “Um…can I get an audition @Brooklyn99FOX ?!? *applies lip gloss and puckers lips* @iamstephbeatz you know I’m ready and on the sidelines like Go Rosa Go!”
And Entertainment Weekly (EW) now reports that Rodriguez will appear in the role.

Actor Terry Crews also posted, then deleted a photo of himself, Rodriguez and Beatriz.

He wrote: “Amazing time today hanging out with my sistas from different mistas.”
Of course, nothing is set in stone and showrunners might surprise fans with an entirely different role for Rodriguez.
This is not the first time Rodriguez has said she wanted to play the girlfriend of bisexual Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Stephanie Beatriz’s character.
“I want to play her love interest so bad,” says Rodriguez last year.
“I really hope they make that happen.”

Last year Rodriguez tweeted of her own sexual orientation.
She wrote: “I don’t need anyone to define their sexuality to me nor do I feel the need to either. I love hearts. Period.”
Rodriguez has also said she is “more bisexual” than the title character she plays on ‘Jane the Virgin’.
