People are proposing to their partners with avocados

Getting engaged is arguably one of the most important moments of a person’s life.

It can go one of two ways: you experience an Oscar-worthy cinematic moment that’ll remain in your memories for years to come as you and your partner embrace, or it is horribly awkward. There’s been no talk of marriage beforehand, or your partner arranged a flash mob.

Either way, the ring is the crux of the proposal. Does it fit? Do you like it? Is it sat in a plush velvet box?

The box is seemingly a deal breaker for some, as people have been ditching the classic small black box in favour of avocados.

Yes, avocados.

As if we hadn’t found enough ways to utilise the overpriced millennial staple food, people are now legitimately storing engagement rings in the middle of avocados in place of the pip.

Honestly, everything about this seems like a logistical nightmare, but people have shared images on Instagram using the hashtag #avocadoproposal of their rings nestled inside the veggie delight.

At first, it seemed just like a fad.

But then one user, yogi Taylor Selby, shared a photo of her boyfriend popping the question with an avocado last year.

Another couple was pictured with one of them halfway through their avocado snack when her partner got on one knee.

We have so many questions about how one goes about using the avocado as a box.

When do you cut it open? How do you avoid it going brown? What if your choice of avocado is too ripe? or not ripe enough?

Honestly, it seems like a lot of effort, and as far as we can tell no same-sex couples have used the avo-gagement method but it seems like it could be a nice way to diversify your avocado use.
