Maryland gov candidate chooses lesbian business owner for running mate

The Democratic candidate for Maryland governor has chosen a lesbian business owner as his running mate to transform the agenda in Maryland.

Alec Ross has selected Julie Verratti, a craft beer brewer who worked for the Obama administration, to take the lead in his campaign to become the state’s next governor.

The Owner of Denizens Brewing Co said that she hopes her business acumen will send the pair to the top.

“I’m in the nitty-gritty,” she said to The Baltimore Sun.

Verratti, who listed having a beer with Hillary Clinton on her bucket list, hopes to translate her small business expertise into the wider fold.

“I know exactly what it’s like to run a business.”

“What I really wanted first and foremost was someone who was really focused on the future, who was focused on what’s next,” Ross said when asked about his selection.

“I wanted someone with executive experience.”

“We’re really focused on the economy and the changing nature of the world that we live in,” Verratti said. “People are hungry for new leadership.”

Although Ross’ aspirations are high, he faces stiff competition.

He is one of the five candidates who have declared before 27 February deadline, and at present, has the least cash in the bank.

However, he still has more than ¢1 million dollars to play with, so the battle is certainly not over yet.

Varratti lives in Silver Springs with her wife, Emily Bruno.
