Kylie Minogue reveals nervous breakdown after relationship ended

Kylie Minogue has opened up about the break down of her last relationship.

The Lucky singer was due to marry British actor Joshua Sasse, but later found out he had allegedly cheated on her with another actress.

Kylie, 49, ended the relationship two years in, in February 2017, despite talk of marriage.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Kylie said she was “broken” by the end of the relationship.

“I just wanted to stop. I knew I needed to heal my… my physical system was compromised. I think it’s called a nervous breakdown. I just thought ‘no, no, no, no’.”

Kylie flew to Thailand after the shock split and said it was “an opportunity to reclaim myself, get strong and get going.”

She added: “I think I reacted pretty quickly. I can take a nose dive pretty fast, but I won’t stay there long. I’m too practical.”

Her new album, Golden, is said to be about her breakup from Sasse.

“There’s a little bit of heartbreak, I would say. Mostly I try to reflect where I am,” she said of her new music.

“Definitely, in the last year, there’s been some of that [heartbreak] but we bounce back. Most of it is super positive and inspiring, as a note to self as much as anything else. I’m feeling great right now.

“The songs are very storytelling and story-based. It was so great to do things a little bit differently.”

She added: “It was good. In the studio it’s a slightly weird concept to be spending seven, eight, nine hours in a room with people sometimes you don’t know.

The album, to be called Golden, will be her first original studio album since Kiss Me Once in 2014.

“I went to Nashville for two weeks and that became the album. I did a lot of work on the album before that but Nashville had a profound effect on me,” she told Biz On Sunday.

“If you’re working with good people it’s the perfect place to deal with stuff.
