Katie Hopkins says she is ‘being detained’ in South Africa for inciting racial hatred
Katie Hopkins has said that she is “being detained” in South Africa and has had her passport confiscated for inciting racial hatred.
The former Apprentice contestant has said that she has been banned from returning home after she came to the country to film a documentary about “military-style attacks on the country’s white farmers”.
Hopkins shared her account on Twitter, tweeting that she was “Detained at passport control on the orders of the @MYANC (African National Congress). Amazing security co-ordination from a country where police do not respond to white farm murders because they are on lunch break.”

“At passport control, I’ve been through security and I’ve been detained, my passport has been marked for spreading racial hatred here in South Africa, for trying to find out and tell the story of white farmers being murdered,” she said in the video.
“I’m not sure what’s going to happen, they’ve taken my passport away from me but it doesn’t look like a this present time I’ll be allowed to board my flight and leave the country.”
The far-right “journalist” also said that her passport was confiscated at Johannesburg Airport when she tried to gain entry into the country.
During her trip, she also collapsed after taking ketamine, which she said was administered by paramedics after she dislocated her shoulder.
Twitter users have joked about Hopkins’ detainment, as well as sharing their thoughts on why her racially-charged comments and work needs to be taken seriously.

Hopkins was sacked from LBC in May 2017 after she suggested a “final solution” to terrorism in the wake of the Manchester attacks, a term used by Hitler when he argued for arbitrating genocide against Jewish people.
She said that she stopped writing her column for The Daily Mail under an agreement of “mutual consent”.
