Fans of ‘Only Fools and Horses’ have said they think it is ‘homophobic and transphobic’
Fans of the show ‘Only Fools and Horses’ have re-visited the show, and have said they think the show is “homophobic, transphobic… and racist.”
The viewers of the show, which first aired in 1981, said that some of the jokes jar with modern attitudes.
Taking to social media, fans expressed outrage at some of the jokes made on the show, which is now on Netflix to catch up.
One Twitter user wrote: “Didn’t notice it at the time but Only Fools and Horses was racist as fuck. Looks quite shocking when you watch it now.”
Another added: “I forgot how racist Only Fools and Horses was, totally over my head when I was little.”
A third Twitter user added: “Watched an old episode of Only Fools & Horses last night. And, well… It’s a *bit* massively fucking racist, innit?”
Various others took to social media to criticise the show.
One woman posted: “I meeeean…have you seen only fools and horses? Horrifically racist and that was broadcast in my lifetime. Society moves on from the viewpoints shown in cherished TV shows.”
Another viewer said: “Lazy morning watching Only Fools And Horses… I don’t remember it being so horrendously racist!”
The show is available on Netflix, which dropped every episode of Friends last week after complaints from viewers.
It is probably one of the most known series, and that is the reasons that millions of fans were thrilled when it was announced that it would be coming to Netflix.
However, excitement quickly died down when people began to binge watch the show and found that it was more problematic than they remembered from previous sporadic watching.
Viewers have taken to Twitter in swarms to complain about the homophobic, transphobic and misogynistic storylines that litter the ten seasons.
