Rose McGowan has got into a screaming row with a trans woman who confronted her over her anti-trans opinions.

The star has been at the forefront of the #MeToo movement against Harvey Weinstein and all other alleged sexual predators.

But the former Charmed actress has a history of making offensive comments against the LGBT community.

She has previously hit out at Caitlyn Jenner, claiming she has “male privilege” and “doesn’t understand” being female.

In 2014, she said “gay men are as misogynistic as straight men, if not more so. I have an indictment of the gay community right now, I’m actually really upset with them.”

She also held a party in support of the Brunei-owned Beverly Hills Hotel, despite it being boycotted by a host of other celebrities because of the country’s anti-gay stoning laws.

At an event this week for her new book, McGowan reacted furiously when questioned about anti-trans remarks she made in July last year on RuPaul’s podcast What’s The Tee?

During the episode, she said that trans women thought they knew what it was like to grow up female, “because they felt like a woman on the inside,” but that this was false.

“That’s not developing as a woman,” said McGowan.

“That’s not growing as a woman, that’s not living in this world as a woman and a lot of the stuff I hear trans [women] complaining about, yeah, welcome to the world.”

At McGowan’s event in Manhattan, a trans woman stood up and said: “I have a suggestion: talk about what you said on RuPaul.

“Trans women are dying and you said that we, as trans women, are not like regular women.”

Speaking passionately, she continued: “We get raped more often. We go through domestic violence more often.

“There was a trans woman killed here a few blocks [away]. I have been followed home.”

McGowan interrupted her to say: “So have I. So have I. So have I. We’re the same. My point was: we are the same.

“There’s an entire show called ID channel, a network, dedicated 24 hours a day to women getting abused, murdered, sexualised and violated, and you are too, sister.

“It’s the same.”

The audience member responded: “You do nothing for them. Trans women are in men’s prisons.

“And what have you done for them?” she asked.

“What have you done for women?” McGowan retorted.

A shouting match proceeded, until McGowan stood up and said: “Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. Enough! Get lost!”

The trans woman shouted: “This is the AIDS crisis all over again!”

When she heard that, McGowan looked the woman in the eye and made an ‘up yours’ sign in her direction.

The woman was then escorted out while yelling: “White cis feminism.”

“Shut up, you’re so boring,” McGowan told her.

The actress then went on a fiery tirade, telling the departed trans woman that she was a different “planet” and that she should be “f***ing grateful” for McGowan’s work.

“Don’t label me, sister,” she said. “Don’t put your labels on me. Don’t you f***ing do that. Do not put your labels on me.

“I don’t come from your planet. Leave me alone. I do not subscribe to your rules. I do not subscribe to your language.

“You will not put labels on me or anybody. Step the f*** back. What I do for the f***ing world and you should be f***ing grateful.

“Shut the f*** up. Get off my back. What have you done? I know what I’ve done, God dammit,” she added.

“I’m not crying; I’m f***ing mad with the lies. I’m mad that you put s*** on me because I have a f***ing vagina and I’m white or I’m black or I’m yellow or I’m purple.”

She told the audience: “I didn’t agree to your cis f***ing world. Ok? F*** off.”

McGowan then said that the attendee had got her facts wrong, and that trans women were not more at risk of being the victims of crimes than cis women.

“Trans women are women and what I’ve been trying to say is that it’s the same. The stats are not that dissimilar,” she said. “When you break it down, it is a much smaller population.

“There’s not a network here devoted to your f***ing death.

“There’s not advertisers advertising tampons with a camera lovingly going up a girl’s body as she’s being lovingly raped and strangled. Piss off.”

She then gave herself a verbal pat on the back.

“And until you can collect that f***ing check, back up. My name is Rose McGowan and I am obviously f***ing brave.”
