This trans man’s tweet about his top surgery is going viral for all the right reasons

A transgender man in New York City has shared a photo and spoken about his top surgery, and the tweet has gone viral for all the right reasons.

Twitter user Chellamanart, also known as Chella Man, has been documenting his transition online.

Sharing pictures and videos throughout has become somewhat of a comfort to not only him but to his 10,500 followers.

That’s why when a recent tweet about his top surgery went viral.

Writing alongside post-operation pictures, he explained that he was overjoyed with the steps he is taking.

He wrote: “Today, I checked off one of the bullets on my top surgery bucket list.

“I wrapped the towel around my waist, not my chest.

“I looked in the mirror, disregarding the drains and binder, and I saw myself.


“For the first time, I saw myself.”

The candid tweet was met with a warm response online.

“I don’t even know you, but I’m so proud of you. I’m glad you can be comfortable in your own skin,” one person wrote to him.

Another said: The image of happiness! I’m so happy for you!”

“You look beautiful and happy and it just warms my heart so much. Seeing your pics and getting updates from you has been the highlight of my days lately so thank you, Chella. Wish the best for both you and MaryV,” a third added.

The 19-year-old artist started transitioning seven months ago.

He has written numerous times across his platforms about the process and the complexities that come hand in hand with it.

He wrote: “Growing up, I asked myself every day: Is it worth it? The “it” shifting between academics, working out, & sometimes, life.

“I can tell you only what I wish someone told me then. It’s worth it. Every step.”

Many of his followers feel that his posts help them with their own dysphoria.

“Thank you for sharing these. I’m having a very dysphoric couple of days. seeing some amazing trans positivity from you is keeping me going! congratulations on the surgery, too. mine has changed my life forever,” one person explained.

Others added that they too had such similar feelings to Chella and it was nice for them to see that emotion translated into a post.

Someone said: “I remember that feeling for me and how I finally could just *look* in the mirror. It’s a pretty indescribable feeling. Congrats on getting there!”

Others were just happy for Chella, despite not knowing him.
