Australia watched a ton of lesbian porn during equal marriage vote

Lesbian porn was very popular in Australia as the country decided whether gay people deserved the right to marry.

In 2017 the country’s right-wing Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull ordered a postal vote on same-sex marriage.

61.60% of people voted Yes in the survey, while 38.40% voted to deny gay people the right to marry.

There was a surge in homophobic hate crimes during the vote, while leading politicians opposed to equality resorted to borderline anti-LGBT hate speech to win votes.

But data reveals that Australians were also watching a ton of lesbian porn in 2017.

According to data released by PornHub this week, Lesbian was the most popular category for adult content in 2017 in the country, with a 26% surge compared to the rest of the word.

The most popular search term was also ‘lesbian’.

PornHub said: “Australia proves their love for their vast interior desert wilderness, also known as the Outback, with the Outdoor category being 24% more popular there than in other countries.

“With such beautiful surroundings, the increase of ‘snapchat’ searches by 125% from last year shouldn’t come as a surprise. ‘Threesome’ is up by one and ‘massage’ has seemingly lost its touch, making a drop of 2 spots on the top searches chart.”

Pornhub recently launched a centre dedicated to educating people about sexuality and sexual health – because of poor standards of sex and relationship education (SRE).

In the US sex and relationship education is often heavily regulated by state lawmakers, meaning that school kids are commonly taught under ‘abstinence-only’ programmes that do not provide quality advice on protection, avoiding STIs or sexual health in general.

In addition, a handful of states continue to maintain laws that ban teachers from mentioning homosexuality.

In the absence of any real education, young people are increasingly turning to pornography to learn about sex – which campaigners warn can lead to body issues, unrealistic expectations and even dangerous or risky practises.

But rather than being part of the problem, the world’s largest porn site Pornhub is trying to be part of the solution, launching an online resource centre dedicated to sexual health.

The website has hired clinical psychologist Dr Laurie Betito to run the new Pornhub Sexual Wellness Center, which will provide readers “with information and advice regarding sexuality, sexual health and relationships”.

It explains: “The free site will feature original editorial content on an assortment of topics from an array of esteemed doctors, therapists, community leaders and experts.”

Unlike many sex ed resources online, all the contributors to the site are qualified medical experts.

The site already has content on a number of topics including consenttransgender terminology and HIV/AIDS.

In 2016, PinkNews exclusively revealed that Pornhub had launched a world-first gay virtual reality category.

Donald Trump’s inauguration speech also found a new life in an unlikely corner of the internet.

His speech – the shortest in 40 years for a US President – made its way on to PornHub.

Back in 2014, the site pleaded with users to stop uploading clips of Brazilian men “getting f**ked” by Germans in the World Cup.
