P!nk has announced she’s going to perform at the Super Bowl – and fans’ excitement is overwhelming.

The pop star, whose new album Beautiful Trauma went straight to number one in the US, has long been an LGBT ally.

Justin Timberlake is set to headline the halftime show on February 4, but P!nk will kick off the multi-billion dollar event.

She will sing the national anthem in front of an expected audience of 60,000 people at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota and more than 100 million people worldwide.

The star tweeted the news out to her fans with the message: “See you at the Super Bowl… “.

P!nk has not been slow to slam President Donald Trump or homophobia in the past, so here’s hoping that she makes a statement at the showpiece event.

Last year, she repeatedly spoke out against gender stereotypes.

At the MTV VMAs, P!nk made an impassioned defence of people who, like her six-year-old daughter Willow, dress in gender non-conforming ways.

And in December, the So What singer opened up about how she was raising her daughter and 11-month-old son Jameson without enforcing gender or sexuality on them.

The singer, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, has spoken frequently about how fans mistakenly believe she is a lesbian, despite having children with husband Carey Hart.

In October, the US singer opened up about speculation on her sexuality, saying that she liked the idea of not being labelled.

“That’s where I was always coming from,” she said. “Just, leave it alone. I just wanna live my life.
