A sixth season of Prison Break is in the works

A sixth season of the hit series Prison Break is in the works.

A “new iteration” of the Fox series is in production, it was announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

“We are developing a new iteration of ‘Prison Break,’” Michael Thorn the president of entertainment for Fox said.

“It’s in very early stages of development, but we’re really excited about it.”

“We just heard the pitch…a couple of weeks ago, an approach to the next chapter,” he added.

“But we don’t even have an outline for the pilot yet. I fully expect both brothers will be involved in the series, assuming that they’re all available. There’s a lot to figure out when you’re bringing back the cast of a show where they all have busy careers.”

A ninth season was unveiled of Prison Break last April starring Wentworth Miller.

Miller portrayed expert prison breaker Michael Scofield in the Fox series from 2005 to 2009, rising to prominence in Hollywood.

After announcing back in 2015 that Miller would reprise the role of Scofield in a new series of Prison Break, Fox unveiled the ninth season in 2017.

Miller came out as gay in 2013, while declining to attend a film premiere in Russia because of its anti-gay laws.

He later admitted that he was scared to come out while portraying the macho character – saying he was worried it would impact his career.

The actor said at the time: “In that time, I gave thousands of interviews I had multiple opportunities to speak my truth which is that I was gay.

“But I chose not to… I chose to lie. When I thought about the possibility of coming out, how that might impact me and the career I worked so hard for, I was filled with fear. Fear and stubborn resistance that had built up over many years.”

It was confirmed some time ago that the show would return for a new 10-episode run – despite being killed off in the original finale, which left some fans disappointed.

But it sounds like the new season won’t star Miller and the original cast.

Prison Break star Miller hit back at a follower on Twitter who called him a “little bitch” and said he is not “a real man”.
