Gay couple allegedly held at gunpoint and told: ‘I dare you to scream, you faggot’

A gay couple has been allegedly threatened with a gun in Chile.

A man confronted the young couple in Park Araucano in Santiago, the country’s capital, physically assaulting them and calling them vile slurs.

He warned the couple that he had a gun and would act as “lawyer and lieutenant” in punishing the couple, GSN has reported.

The victims are known as NG, 20, and PV, 19.

During his terrifying attack, the perpetrator told them that he had “busted” gay people in the past.

He followed the couple through the park, tossing slurs at them like “filthy…faggots”.

When they began to film the abuse, the man kicked PV and grabbed his neck.

“I am armed, do not provoke me.

“I dare you to scream, you faggot.”

The park’s security guard failed to take down the man’s details but seemed sympathetic towards the couple.

Chile’s leading LGBTQI advocacy group Movement for Homosexual Integration and Liberation (Movilh) called for the man to be found and charged.

In a letter to Las Condes Mayor Joaquin Lavin, Movilh urged him to find the attacker.

Joaquin responded with support for the couple and a commitment to find the attacker so they can be charged.

Although an official complaint has been made to the police, no arrests have been made and Movilh is unsure of whether an investigation will take place.

The organisation called for the park to begin training its security guards on how to deal with homophobic and transphobic assaults.

Last year, a similar incident occurred when a gay activist was attacked in Chile by neo-Nazis.

In September, a man was left with 15 stitches in his face after a violent homophobic attack in the country.

In order to address inequality in her nation, Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet passed a same-sex marriage bill to Congress.
