Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi put their home on sale – but nobody wants to buy

December 6, 2017

Chat show host Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi put their home up for sale in March – but it looks like nobody wants to buy it.

The house she called her “forever home” was put on the market for $45m, but is yet to receive an offer.

In a bid to shift the property, the price has been slashed to $39.5 million — a roughly 12% reduction.

The 17 acre estate includes a sunken tennis court, badminton court and an indoor-outdoor pool house.

The mansion features a main house with six bedrooms, nine fireplaces, and an 800-square-foot living room, a swimming pool, classic fountains and sunken tennis courts, all set in 17 acres of grounds.

Ellen said: “The house is always surprising. It reveals itself to you in new ways every day.

“It’s not overly manicured or tidy. It’s not overly precious or perfect.

“And it’s a home that manages to be both spacious and cosy at once.”

Ellen recently had to be rushed to hospital after the most Ellen injury ever, involving a lot of fun and some wine.

She added: “The surrounding gardens and olive trees are almost as wonderful as the interior.

“The house truly feels like it was built out of the landscape, rather than plopped on a plot.

“It feels ancient, like it’s been there forever. Like that hill was never without the house. This is a home that honours nature, and I love that.”

The reason for selling the home is unknown, but it’s unlikely to be because she can’t afford it.

The dyatime talk show host is currently in the middle of another successful season of The Ellen Show.

She also has some 28 million Facebook likes and 74 million followers on Twitter, making her one of the most followed people in the world.

And she recently broke the record for the most views by a talk show host on YouTube – racking up an incredible 10 billion hits.

As if that isn’t enough, Ellen received the honour of her life last year, when outgoing president Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
