Ed Sheeran has repeatedly tweeted that things and people are “no homo” and “so homo”.

Between the ages of 18 and 19, the world-famous pop star sent at least 13 tweets which included the phrases.

Sheeran, who received an MBE this year, called shopping for jeans with a male friend “so homo”.

Talking to comedian and actor Jamie Howard, he wrote: “on a no homo vibe I need to buy some new jeans, so let’s go shopping.

“Wow. So homo”, he added.

Activities which led the multi-Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter to add the sentiment “no homo” were extremely varied.

A “nighttime sesh” with a male friend? No homo.

The star sent the posts while he was an undergraduate at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Surrey, south-east England.

Sheeran, who is close friends with Taylor Swift, stopped using Twitter in July after appearing on Game of Thrones.

In 2011, the year after he sent the majority of these tweets, he branded a rapper “faggoty” in a rap battle.

In the video, which was removed from the internet in 2015, he rapped: “Yo, I freestyle to the faggoty man.

“I go on the bus and I sleep for a day, then I come back and they’re like, Ed, you look like this gay.

“These guys are safe, they’re not gay mans.”

Sheeran has seemingly grown up since then – two years later, he urged the hateful Westboro Baptist Church: “Keep your homophobic views to yourself, it’s 2013.”

And he sent fans wild earlier this year when he waved a rainbow flag at a concert in London.

A number of celebrities have had their embarrassing tweets unearthed in recent weeks.

Grime artist Stormzy apologised yesterday after a flood of tweets in which he repeatedly called people “a f***ing fag,” “faggot” and “gay” were discovered by PinkNews.

The two-time MOBO Award winner called his past comments “foul and offensive,” and spoke directly to the LGBT+ community when he offered his “deepest apologies”.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’s Amir Khan and Rebekah Vardy were hit with homophobia accusations yesterday, after YouTuber Jack Maynard exited the ITV reality show after his homophobic and racist tweets emerged.

The Labour Party suspended Jared O’Mara MP last month after he allegedly referred to gay people as “fudge packers” and “poofters”, also alluding to anal sex as “driving up the Marmite motorway”.

And last week, famous YouTuber Zoella apologised for mocking gay and transgender people on Twitter.

The 27-year-old, who has more than 12 million subscribers, tweeted in 2010, when she was 20: “I find it funny when gay men spit…it’s like they’re trying to be a bit macho but never works…”.

And in 2011, writing to beauty YouTuber Tanya Burr, Zoella said: “are they honestly letting a tranny in a policeman hat speak to them like that? How odd! Haha x”.

The revelations came as a shock to supporters who have seen the star repeatedly speak out in favour of LGBT rights.

And Gay Times editor Josh Rivers was sacked after it was discovered that he had tweeted offensive comments.

Rivers insulted transgender people, lesbians, women in general, Jews, Asians, Africans, the homeless, anyone he thought was “fat” or a “retard” – and old people.
