True Blood actress Rutina Wesley has quietly come out as she revealed her engagement.

The True Blood star, who played Tara Thornton on the cult vampire show, uploaded a series of Instagram photos revealing her engagement to another woman.

The actress was formerly engaged to actor Jacob Fishel, and had not publicly come out.

However, she posted a photo gallery onto Instagram with a woman who appears to be her fiance, as well as a photo showing her hand wearing an engagement ring.

The beginning of the photo gallery, which she posted two days ago, was the simply a picture of the quote: “Overthinking is our biggest cause of unhappiness, keep yourself occupied. Keep your mind off things that don’t help you. Think positive.”

However, scrolling through the gallery reveals several selfies with her and a mystery woman, in one picture she is kissing her on the cheek, apparently a gallery dedicated to their relationship.

The diamond ring on Wesley’s ring finger in the last picture, as well as a large number of revealing hashtags is the biggest indicator that she and the other woman in her pictures are engaged.

The hashtags for the diamond ring picture are certainly revealing, and include:
#StillRingsTrue #AlwaysMORENeverLESSISaidYES #SheFeedsMySOUL #IWasLookingAtHERAndFoundMyJOY #ImHavingAPrivateParty #LoveOfMyLIFEYouAreMyFriend #AllIHadToDoWasTurnAround @chef_shonda #ILoveYouMoreThanWORDS

Fans of the star are certainly taking these hashtags to heart, with many giving the actress congratulations on her new engagement.

Fans did not waste time to congratulate the star on her engagement.

The woman tagged in her picture, @chef_shonda has a private Instagram profile, so unfortunately we will have to wait until the couple speaks up about the pictures to know if they are the real deal, but we are hoping they are!

The stars of True Blood previously clashed over a gay storyline on the show.

Luke Grimes – who played vampire James on the HBO show – abruptly quit in 2013, just episodes before his character had a gay relationship with medium Lafayette.

His role was subsequently been recast, with Nathan Parsons taking on the part.

Nelsan Ellis, who played Lafayette on the show, laid into Grimes.

He said: “I just think that, you’re an actor. We’re all sitting there going, ‘You quit your job because … really?’

“I’m just… I’m over him. You quit your job because you don’t want to play a gay part? As if it’s … You know what? I’m going to stop talking.”

“You make a statement when you do something like that.

“You make a big statement, when you go, ‘I don’t want to play this part because it’s gay.’

“If you have a child, if you have a son, and he comes out as gay, what are you going to do? If you have a daughter who comes out gay? You just made a statement, and it has ripple effects.”

“I’m supposed to do what my boss tells me to do, as an actor.

“I can’t approach a character with judgment. I certainly can’t tell my boss, ‘I can act what I want to act, but not what you tell me to act,’ especially on a show where you come in, knowing what it is.”

But the actor’s publicist claimed: “Luke always had an out clause as a means of pursuing other opportunities… it had nothing to do with storylines, which he had not been privy to at the time of that posting.”
