Christian group opens anti-gay conference with rainbow flag interpretative dance

We have no idea what we just watched.

There are many things you might expect to see at a conference on ‘Countering the LGBT Agenda’ – evangelical shock jocks, a sermon from Vice President Mike Pence, and a man in the back row secretly checking Grindr.

But this definitely wasn’t up there.

MassResistance, a group which aggressively lobbies against gay equality in the US, opened its annual conference in Texas last week, and they did it in faaaaabulous style.

Opening the event, the group’s chairman handed over to a dancer who appeared waving two multi-coloured flags.

He proceeded to do an interpretative dance with the flags, to a song that Shazam informs us is Christian singer Matthew West’s track The List.

And it lasts for five full, hypnotic minutes.

You have been warned.

The same group were also involved in the recent Values Voter Summit, where Donald Trump made an appearance as keynote speaker.

At the event MassResistance handed out pamphlets promoting their book ‘The Hazards of Homosexuality’.

The leaflets say: “The sexual revolution and mainstreaming of homosexuality have created a public health crisis affecting us all. But the media give little attention to the danger of gay and lesbian sexual practices and the resulting health problems experienced by the gay-lesbian-bisexual population.

“Worse, the medical authorities deliver mixed messages to those at high risk while failing to protect the broader public.

“Homosexual and bisexual men are most severely affected and are driving the recent increases in STDs. Lesbians, heterosexuals and youth are increasingly at risk by imitating dangerous ‘gay’ practises.

“The book brings together widely dispersed facts, carefully documenting the disproportionate incidence of disease and mental disorders in the GLB community. A brief survey of the “transgender” phenomenon is included.”

MassResistance has previously praised laws criminalising gay sex.

The group praised Nigeria for passing an anti-gay lawm claiming that African countries are experiencing a “breakdown” because of the “homosexual movement”.

They wrote: “The government of Nigeria, which has one of the world’s largest populations of AIDS sufferers, is outraged by what they feel is the Western world’s efforts to subvert public morality. They are now taking bold steps to fight back.

“Almost predictably, Great Britain and the United States are threatening to take action against Nigeria for having the nerve to challenge Western political correctness. A strong bill passes the Nigerian legislature”.

The piece then went on to attack the US Government under Obama for actively identifying countries with laws which criminalise homosexuality.

“The Obama Administration even has an ‘openly gay’ State Department official who specializes in dealing with African and Asian countries that are deemed ‘hostile’ to the LGBT worldwide agenda.”

The group’s leader previously compared in Massachusetts which aims to protect trans students were like “Nazi concentration camp guards”.

Brian Camenker said he didn’t believe somebody could “change their sex” through gender reassignment, and that he didn’t believe gay people existed, reports Right Wing Watch.

Appearing on VCY radio, he claimed that LGBT rights advocates “take advantage of these very vulnerable kids at a vulnerable time in their lives,” arguing that gay people do not exist.

He claimed: “You know, a lot of doctors have said to me that nobody is homosexual, they are just heterosexuals with homosexual problems and yes, change is possible.”

He went on to say that he didn’t believe people should undergo gender reassignment surgery, and attacked the new policy in his state which aims to protect transgender students.

He said: “It’s insanity. I mean a boy cannot change his sex; your DNA does not change and you can call yourself something different, you can dress differently, you can take hormones, you are always a boy. The damage that this does to everybody, including the person involved and everybody around, is just unfathomable.

“These school administrators, you know I mean you think of them as what the Nazi concentration camp guards must have been like where they are doing this horrible evil and they are just taking orders or something, they believe in it. People need to rise up because it is only going to get worse.”

He is also not convinced gay teenagers exist.

Camenker spoke to Sandy Rios of the American Family Association, and questioned the validity of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s School Climate Survey, released last week, and which he said was “propaganda”.

In the interview he refers to gay and trans children, before saying “if there is such a thing”, questioning the very existence of LGBT youths.

He said: “Right and it has a very sorted history of really radical homosexual activism regarding kids. One of the things that this directive cites is GLSEN’s so-called School Climate Survey, which is this national survey talking about how transgender kids and homosexual kids — if there is such a thing — are harassed and everything.”

He went on to accuse the survey of being “not scientific”, and that it was biased because it was commissioned by “gay activists”.

“But if you look at the way that survey is created, it’s not scientific at all, it’s self-selected by the gay clubs that are run by these gay activist people and there is nothing scientific about it. It’s basically propaganda. It’s run by this organization, GLSEN, that promotes these things in the public schools across the country and our government officials are using that as if it were real,” he continued.

Ms Rios went on to ask Mr Camenker if he had ever “questioned his own sanity” because of moves towards equality.

He said: “You know, it’s funny you should say that because I could remember in the beginning when I was dealing with the public schools that my kids were going to and you’d be surrounded by all of these people that believed and were talking about such ludicrous nonsense that sometimes you would, you’d say: maybe I’m crazy.

“You take these serious educators, at least I thought so back then, who were talking about all of this stuff very seriously, yeah, it drives you mad almost.”
