Bisexual rapper Lil Peep’s death encourages fellow artist to quit drugs

Joseph McCormick November 22, 2017

The death of rapper Lil Peep, who has died at the age of 21 has encouraged a fellow rap artist to quit drugs.

The ‘Post-Emo’ rapper came out as bisexual on Twitter in August, but a tweet from his manager Chase Ortega said he was “expecting this call for a year” about the artist, who was known for his emo/hip-hop crossover style.

His death came a day after he posted a photo on his Instagram with the caption: “When I die, you’ll love me.”

His death has inspired a load of tributes from fellow music industry figures such as Charlie XCX and Diplo.

It has also inspired rap artist Lil Uzi Vert to say he intends to stop taking drugs.

Posting a photo of Lil Peep on Twitter, Uzi wrote: “We Would love 2 stop …..
But Do You Really Care Cause We Been On Xanax All Fucking Year ..

“Rip Buddy I 100% Understand and I Don’t Fault U.”

In a later tweet, he wrote” “Sober 2 day I have been shaking.

“I have been cursing my love ones out and fighting

“In the studio with no thoughts in my head

“Teeth biting down because I just wanna be angry at something.”

Sarah Stennett, CEO of First Access Entertainment, who worked with Lil Peep last year, has released a statement confirming the news of his death.
“I am shocked and heartbroken,” she said.

“I do not believe Peep wanted to die, this is so tragic.

“He had big goals and dreams for the future which he had shared with me, his team, his family and his friends.

“He was highly intelligent, hugely creative, massively charismatic, gentle and charming. He had huge ambition and his career was flourishing.”

It is believed the artist, whose real name was Gustav Åhr, died after an overdose, according to friend Adam Grandmaison.

Fellow artists paid tribute to the singer in the wake of his death.

The New York-born rapper sent a tweet 9 August confirming that he was coming out, writing: “Yes I’m bi sexual”

In a later tweet he added: “Who wants a kiss”.
