Shocking CCTV footage shows trans woman shot in the back during robbery

Joseph McCormick November 18, 2017

Shocking CCTV footage shows a trans woman being shot in the back during a robbery in Detroit.

The 36-year-old woman was shot during the robbery after two men got out of their car and pointed a gun at her.

In the footage released by police, the woman is seen dropping her bag and attempting to slowly back away.

But after she turns her back, the men then shot her.

The shooting took place on Friday morning in Detroit and appears to be completely unprovoked.

Police released details of the vehicle driven by two suspects and chased them shortly after the shooting took place.

The two men fled the red SUV on foot and got away.

A third suspect has been arrested, a 29-year-old man, and a gun has been recovered.

The trans woman remains in critical condition in hospital.

This year has already become the deadliest on record for the killings of trans people in the US.

The Human Rights Campaign says at least 25 trans people have been killed in 2017.

Last week police said a father shot his son because he was gay.

Family remembered Giovanni Melton who Henderson police say was shot and killed by his own father.

The victim’s former foster mother, Sonja Jones, has said that the father, Wendell Melton, “hated” that his son was gay.

“He hated the fact that his son was gay,” said Jones.

And another man who is accused of torturing his girlfriend’s eight-year-old son to death killed him because he thought the child was gay, a court has heard.

The prosecutor said that Isauro Aguirre made Gabriel Fernandez wear stereotypically female clothes to school before murdering him with torture methods.
