European-based LGBT TV channel Out TV Europe has created a crowdfunder to launch ‘a Gay Netflix’.

Known as the only LGBT TV channel in the world, Out TV Europe have created a bid to globally expand the channel, and provide an on-demand service.

Named OUTtv PRO, the service will provide users with control of their viewing schedule, like other on-the-go TV apps, but will provide “650 hours exclusive content that is 100% LGBTQI focussed”, said the company.

The channel, which airs the likes of The Golden Girls, Alan Carr’s Chatty Man and Ru Paul’s Drag Race, launched their bid to gain more funds on Dutch TV show The Pitch.

“Unique is that the platform can match users on the basis of viewing behaviour, interests and physical characteristics,” said Marc Putman, founder and CEO of OutTV to broadbandtvnews.com.

“OutTV is the first TV content provider to combine elements of popular dating apps (such as Grindr and Tinder) and social media data. The European Commission has also committed itself to funding €300,000, – funding to make the platform accessible in several European countries in order to generate attention for the target group of early childhood films and European films.”

Although the Dutch-born channel is only in operation in the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden at present, with the campaign it hopes to launch in more countries across the continent.

With the funding, the channel is planning to expand and launch in the UK, Italy, France and Spain by 2020.

Those who want to give to the crowdfunder can do so here.
