Kevin Spacey has been replaced in a new movie over allegations of sexual abuse
Kevin Spacey has been cut from the filming of a biopic on John Paul Getty.
The movie is set to re-film all of Spacey’s scenes, replacing him with actor Christopher Plummer in a dramatic twist for the production.
This decision from studio heads comes after a long list of sexual abuse and harassment allegations against Spacey have come into public awareness.
A trailer for the film, All The Money In The World, has already been released and features Spacey portraying the frugal businessman famous for refusing to hand over ransom money to his grandson’s kid-nappers.
The film was set to be released in a little over a month from now, and was originally meant to be premiered at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles on 16 November, but the premiere was cancelled after allegations against the House of Cards star began to come out.
According to the Guardian, reshoots of the film with Plummer began immediately after the fresh allegations against Spacey came out.
Spacey responded to allegations against him at the end of October by Star Trek actor Anthony Rapp, claiming that Spacey sexually harassed him when he was only 14 after he invited him to a nightclub.
Rapp said Spacey “sort of stood in the doorway, kind of swaying.
“My impression when he came in the room was that he was drunk … He picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold.
“But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me.”
Rapp managed to squirm out of Spacey’s grip, but was deeply traumatised by the incident which he spoke about in a BuzzFeed interview recently.
Spacey’s apology caused anger among the LGBT community as he came out as gay at the same time.
Many felt argued it was an inappropriate response to the allegations, with some saying it perpetuated a homophobic notion that gay people are more likely to abuse children than straight people.
More allegations of unwanted sexual advances have come out against Spacey recently, including from a former TV news anchor, Heather Unruh, who claimed Spacey sexually assaulted her teenage son last year at a restaurant.
Speaking up about the assault aided by her daughter and lawyer, Unruh explains how her son was “star struck” when he met Spacey, but was quickly taken advantage of by him.
Unruh claims that Spacey got the teenager drunk before unexpectedly grabbing his genitals.
After this assault, Spacey then invited the teenager to an after-hours bar to “drink even more”, it’s alleged.

After Spacey went to the bathroom briefly, a concerned woman approached the teenager and asked if he was okay, sensing that he felt uncomfortable.
He said he did, then “ran away as fast as he could” from the restaurant.
During an emotional press release, Unruh said: “To Kevin Spacey, I want to say this: Shame on you for what you did to my son.”
Unruh said her son was hurt and embarrassed at the time of the incident, and so did not report it until later.
However, after previous allegations of sexual abuse have come out about Spacey, the family decided to come forward to share with the public what had happened.
