Gay women are attracted to women with the same eyes as their mother, a new survey has found.

The study by Glasgow University discovered that people are attracted to those who look like their parents.

This was particularly present among lesbian women and heterosexual men.

Researchers spoke with 300 men and women about the eye colour of their parents and their partners to gather their data.

Remarkably, they found participants are twice as likely to fancy someone whose eye colour is that of the parent whose sex they were attracted to.

The findings were also replicated among gay men and heterosexual women.

It isn’t the first study of its kind to find similar results.

The findings correlate with an existing theory knows as positive sexual imprinting.

The theory suggests that birds and mammals choose their mates based on the characteristics of their parents.

Now scientists have successfully proved that it is replicated in humans in the form of eye colour.

And while it doesn’t quite mean we’re a species inclined to incest, it does suggest many people subconsciously look for aesthetic traits reminiscent of their parents.
