Sean Hayes reveals to Ellen DeGeneres he suffered life threatening health scare

Will and Grace star Sean Hayes was rushed to hospital with a life-threatening condition.

The TV comic had been in excruciating pain after his small intestine burst open.

The burst organ was leaking potentially deadly poisons into his body by the time he made it to hospital.

“I went to bed at night and all of a sudden I felt this excruciating pain in my stomach,” he explained to Ellen DeGeneres.

“So I went to the ER and … thank God I did. I had a very rare thing where my small intestine burst open and it was poisoning my body.

“They went in there and they clipped off the bad part and put it back together,” he said before joking, “you know with, like, a chip clip.”

The 47-year-old had been forced to cancel all work commitments as he tried to recover from the condition.

Doctors kept him in hospital for several weeks while he recovered from the serious health scare.

However the extent of drugs he was on to deal with the pain led the comedian to make some questionable decision.

He initially was due to appear on The Ellen Show two weeks ago.

He was forced to pull out due to his health, but didn’t entirely make that clear to producers.

“She was so nice and we’re going through all the stuff and she said, ‘Are you sure you can do the show on Monday?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, can you do the show on Monday?’

“And she was like, ‘Yeah, I work here!’ And I’m like, ‘Fine biatch.’”

He continued: “My husband Scotty was in the room with me and I hung up the phone and he’s like, ‘What’s wrong with you? You can’t do the Ellen Show on Monday, are you high?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah I’m really high! Are you high?’”

Thankfully he pulled through the scare and was able to tell the story – in hilarious detail – to Ellen.
