Ellen DeGeneres surprises inspiring gay audience member with huge gift
Talk show icon Ellen DeGeneres is on a one woman mission to reward random acts of kindness.
As part of the Cheerios One Milllion Acts of Good campaign, Ellen has been singling out viewers for their humanity and generosity.
And one audience member got the shock of their life – right after taking part in the ‘White men can dance…’ feature.
The dance wasn’t all he was there for, however, as Ellen brought the dancing viewer down on to the stage.
It turns out student Trent Bauer had been nominated by his best friend.
She wrote in to Ellen to say he was the kindest, most selfless person she knows and that he deserves a treat.
“Dear Ellen, I want to tell you about the most selfless and special person I know and his name is Trent Bauer,” it read.
“He’s your biggest fan. He spent his entire college career fighting for gay rights and was even nominated for homecoming king because of all the good that he does.
“Trent has a heart of gold. He’s the definition of a true angel. Ellen, thank you for inspiring Trent to be the guy that he is.”
Trent is an LGBT rights activist at his university where he is creating an LGBT student coordinator role because, “I felt that there was an underserved lack of resources.”
“I want to do something for you because you’re a good guy,” explained Ellen.
“We love what you do for the community. And you’re struggling to pay for college, so we want to be able to help you continue all the good you’re doing.
“So we’re going to give you $10,000.”
Earlier this week Sam Smith appeared on the show – where he opened up about his relationship with 13 Reasons Why star Brandon Flynn.
