You know how Disney Princesses are almost always into blokes? Well, one lesbian couple decided that Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella (from…Cinderella) make the perfect pair.

Yalonda and Kayla Solseng are both fans of Once Upon a Time – the fairytale-themed TV show set in Storybooke, Maine – and, as such, decided to have their own magical engagement photoshoot.

“That show rewrites fairytales and this was our modern-day fairytale,” Kayla told The Huffington Post.

The snaps were taken by Taylor Snyder and Erin Miller at Romantic Moon Events Center in Glendon, Minnesota – which is also where the couple got married.

Kayla dressed as Belle in her famous yellow dress, while Yalonda dressed as Cinderella in her big blue gown.

It went viral, obviously

The pictures were shared on LGBT Facebook page Have A Gay Day and they’ve since been liked more than 17,000 times and shared by 9,000 people.

“This was put on by an amazing group. It started with an idea in my head and turned out better than I could imagine,” Yalonda wrote on Facebook.

“We wanted to show others that two princesses can fall in love,” she explained.

“I made the shoes and got Kayla in a dress which is a win for me.”

“This showcases our geeky love and interest in Once Upon A Time,” continued Yalonda.

“We had fun and laughed a lot. We had to beat the rain.”

How Belle (Kayla) and Cinderella (Yalonda) met

Yalonda and Kyla started talking online, via the dating site Plenty Of Fish, before meeting in person at a nightclub in March 2014.

“Our connection was like no other,” Kayla told Huffington Post.

“We then hung out every single day from that day on for the next three weeks.

“We couldn’t get enough of each other!”

After dating for nine months, Yalonda proposed to Kayla during a holiday in Switzerland.

The couple had spent the day skiing before returning to their hotel for the special moment.

She said yes, obviously

Yalonda then surprised Kayla with a fairytale book she had written and illustrated – that was based on their own love story.

“At the end I asked: Kayla, ‘Will you be my happily ever after?’” Yalonda explained.

“Of course she said ‘yes’ and cried.”

“It’s okay to be with the person you love”

“Gay marriage has been legalised in the US for over a year and we hardly have gay or lesbian characters in children’s movies ― let alone them being main characters,” Yalonda said.

“Kids want to be the characters they grow up with but when none of the characters represent you, then you feel alone.

“I want our photos to be shown to kids and families as a way of saying it’s okay to be who you are.
