All the times Neil Patrick Harris’ family did Halloween better than you
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka’s family Halloween costumes have become legendary.
Their adorable kids Harper Grace and Gideon Scott are always involved and together they always smash their costumes.
From Batman to Peter Pan to Alice in Wonderland, since welcoming their twins in 2010, the Patrick Harris-Burtkas have gone from strength-to-strength.
Fans are all ready and waiting, and many say they look forward to Halloween for the family’s costumes.
So with Halloween looming, and to give you some last-minute inspiration if you are still in need are some – here are some of the best costumes the Hollywood family have pulled out of the bag.
2015 – Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker
Two years ago the family decided on a Star Wars-themed costume.
In brilliantly posed photos, Patrick Harris was Obi-Wan, Burtka was Han Solo, Harper Grace was Princess Leia and Gideon Scott was Luke Skywalker.
13/10 for execution.
2013 – Alice in Wonderland
A couple of years after their twins were born, the family chose a Halloween outing dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland.
The twins played Alice and the White Rabbit, while Burtka and Patrick Harris played Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
Brilliant.
2016 – Marilyn Monroe, Groucho Marx, James Dean and Charlie Chaplin
Last year’s entry into the hall of fame did not fail to disappoint.
While less of a single-narrative costume choice, their Hollywood legends costumes were on point as always.
Burtka was Chaplin, Patrick Harris was Groucho Marx, Gideon Scott played James Dean and of course, Harper Grace was Marilyn.
2013 – Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Bride of Frankenstein, and Dracula

While the twins were still relatively young, the family came out dressed as some absolute Halloween classics.
Patrick Harris was brilliant as Frankenstein, while Gideon Scott played The Wolfman, Harper Grace was Bride of Frankenstein and Burtka was Dracula.
Classics.

2014 – The Joker, The Riddler, Batman, and Batgirl
Three years ago was the year of DC Comics.
The family rolled out some on fleek Halloween looks, with Gideon Scott as Batman and Harper Grace as Batgirl.
Their dads obviously had to get some villains involved with Burtka as The Joker and Patrick Harris as the Joker.
2011 – Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, and Smee
Another classic look from the first family of Hollywood.
Their first outing as a family on Halloween, Burtka was Pan, Patrick Harris was Hook, Harper Grace was Tinkerbell and a slightly bemused-looking Gideon Scott was Smee.
Not their strongest look as a family, but they still knocked it out of the park – and 10/10 for commitment to the cause.

2012 – Tin Man, Scarecrow, Dorothy, and The Cowardly Lion
Another classic look from a single source – the family went out for a second time in 2012 dressed as characters from the Yellow Brick Road.
Harper Grace was Dorothy, Gideon Scott was the Cowardly Lion and Patrick Harris and Burtka played the Tin Man and Scarecrow.

As their back to school photos in 2016, the twins looked super sassy and ready to learn.
