Sam Smith is getting a one-hour special on the BBC with Fearne Cotton and you can be in the audience

Sam Smith has a string of chart-topping hits and an Oscar to his name, and now he’s getting the rubber stamp of superstardom: a BBC special.
BBC Music today announced the hour-long Sam Smith At the BBC.
The special will be presented by Fearne Cotton and be broadcast on BBC One in November.

Smith will use the opportunity to play some tracks from his upcoming new album, as well as songs from his back catalogue.
It won’t just be Smith and his normal backing band, as they’ll also be joined by the BBC Concert orchestra.

The singer will also be in conversation with Cotton about his career, music and – of course – his personal life.
If you want to be in the audience, you can apply for tickets via the BBC.
The ballot is open until 11pm this Thursday (October 5), and the recording takes place on Tuesday, October 17.
Smith said: “I’m so honoured and thankful to the BBC for giving me this opportunity to showcase some of my new music from my album in this amazing, intimate setting.
“I can’t wait to sing some old songs and have a big old sing along with everyone.”
Cotton added: “As I’ve adored Sam’s voice since he performed on Radio 1’s Live Lounge in 2015, I jumped at the chance to present this show.
“I can’t wait to see him again, watch him perform new and old tracks and chat to him about his music and life.”
Other stars to have had the At the BBC treatment in recent years include Michael Bublé and Adele, while ex-One Direction star Harry Styles will also appear in a similar broadcast in November.
