Oprah may have just hinted that she might run for President

TV megastar Oprah Winfrey may have just hinted (again) that she might run for President in 2020.

The star has so far only ruled out running in 2020, telling the Hollywood Reporter in June that she would not run.

She said: “I will never run for public office. That’s a pretty definitive thing.”

But it appears that she may have warmed up to the idea slightly, having shared a tweet with a link to a NY Post article backing her as a candidate in 2020.

She wrote: “Thanks for your VOTE of confidence!” with a link to the article, titled ‘Democrats’ best hope for 2020: Oprah’.

The article, written by the Post’s John Podhoretz, touts Winfrey as the only one who can possibly take down Donald Trump in 2020.

He writes: “If you need to set a thief to catch a thief, you need a star—a grand, outsized, fearless star whom Trump can neither intimidate nor outshine—to catch a star,” he writes.

“We’re through the looking glass here. America is discarding old approaches in politics. Democrats will have to do the same to match the mood to the moment.”

Oprah Winfrey previously revealed thoughts about running to be the next President.
The legendary talk show host, 63, shared her thoughts in a candid interview.

Winfrey, who supported Hillary Clinton during last year’s election, spoke with financier David Rubenstein in December for an interview for his Bloomberg Television show, which aired this week.

Winfrey said: “I never considered the question even a possibility,” she told when asked whether she might consider a run.

“I just thought, ‘Oh… oh?'”

Winfrey added that she had always thought the job would require far more experience than she had – but has recently changed her mind.

Billionaire property magnate Donald Trump had never been elected to any level of office before November, when he became the 45th president.

“It’s clear you don’t need government experience to be elected president of the United States”, she said.

“That’s what I thought,” she continued.

“I thought, ‘Oh, gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough.’ And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh.'”

Winfrey had been a high-profile supporter of both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton over the last three elections, but says she’s voted for Republicans and independents too.

Meanwhile the current president has claimed he’s already achieved ‘almost everything’ as POTUS.
