Drag Race winner Violet Chachki ‘dragged’ out of Paris sex club for being ‘too femme’
The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season seven, Violet Chachki, has been “physically dragged” out of a Paris sex club for “not being masc enough”.
Chachki tweeted about the incident which took place at Le Depot, at just after 3.30am local time on Sunday.
She wrote: “I was just physically dragged out of le depot in Paris for not being masc presenting enough. I’m in shock and disgusted. fuck the French”.
Chachki had travelled to Paris for Fashion Week and had been present at a party at Le Depot.

The venue doubles up as a sex club and a club venue.
Chachki also broadcast live using Periscope which showed her and a friend.
In the video, available to view below, she is seen arguing with door staff, and eventually asking to have her jacket back after being thrown out.

In the video a bystander points out that Chachki is known around the world for being the winner of Drag Race season seven.

In the video, Chachki is asked whether she thinks the venue’s policy is transphobic, to which she replies “yes”.
Speaking later to gay dating app Hornet, Chachki gave more details about the incident.
She wrote: “It was a fashion week party. At a club that has dark rooms downstairs for sex. I was there seeing 3 friends that were performing/dj. I wasn’t in drag but I had makeup on.
“I met someone there who also had makeup on but was obviously male bodied but very feminine. We tried to go downstairs to the sexy part when like 4 guys picked us up and dragged us out of the club.”
The venue has since been shamed for kicking out Chachki on its Facebook page.
Fans shared dozens of photos of the drag star on the Facebook page for Le Depot.
The venue was also criticised by Mirage, a French drag artist, who wrote: “Throwing Violet Chachki out, one the most know queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race, BECAUSE SHE LOOKED TOO FEM, and while there was an inclusive fashion show inside, is totally UNTHINKABLE and OUTRAGEOUS for a so-called gay clun.
“No parisian queen will come again to your place. Your Masc4Macs culture and you are OVER.”
The story has also made it over to Reddit, where one user wrote: “This makes me sick to my stomach. Pardon my French but, fuck those people.”

A second added: “It’s gross that even in our own community we still have people that look down on being too “feminine” to the point where these people cannot have them in their presence and have to get them kicked out of the club.
“I get it, everyone has their own preferences and shit, but apparently they are some people so disgusted by it they have to literally get it removed from their view.”
Some defended the venue, however, one user wrote: “Sounds like she tried to go downstairs. Downstairs at Le Depot is men only.
“There might be more to the story, but if did drag her out without even asking her to leave first, that’s both assault and damn shitty.”
When reminded that Chachki is male and wasn’t even in drag, the user added: “Oh maybe so? Never heard of this person before. He was not presenting as one though, which would be the problem.”
Last month, fellow Drag Race star Willam Belli caused a massive controversy by making transphobic comments.
Fans reacted with anger after comments that the drag artist, who appeared on the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, made on live TV show ‘Suck Less’.
During one segment on the Fullscreen show, Willam and fellow drag queen Courtney Act answered a question from a viewer thinking of dating a trans man.
Willam referenced the killing of Brandon Teena, a trans man who was brutally raped and murdered in Nebraska in 1993.
The drag artist trivialised Brandon’s murder, suggesting it was his fault because “he bamboozled the girl… he was trans but he could have told them.”
They added: “just because you cut your titties off and take testosterone, that doesn’t change your chromosomes.”
The comments led to a backlash from horrified fans as well as from Courtney, who reacted with shock and repeatedly challenged William.
Belli has since responded to critics after making transphobic comments in an online TV show.
Bianca Del Rio earlier ths year hit out at Republican Candace Cameron Bure calling her “homophobic” after she posted a picture wearing a branded shirt.
Fellow Drag Race star Gian Gunn also last week out as trans to help celebrate transgender visibility day.
The show got its biggest ever ratings as it returned for season nine, partly due to Lady Gaga making an appearance.
The show’s host RuPaul recently hit out at female bachelorette parties who head to gay clubs for their festivities.
He also received homophobic abuse after revealing he is married to his partner of more than two decades.
