Hocus Pocus is getting a reboot with a new cast and none of you are happy

The original Hocus Pocus has become a cult classic in the years since its release in 1993.

Starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as three Salem witches resurrected in the present day, the comedy horror continues to gain fans off the back of its TV screenings around Halloween.

Many people encounter the film on the Disney Channel, and the broadcaster is looking to capitalise by developing a new TV movie reboot.

None of the classic trio are thought to be returning for the reimagining, Deadline reports.

As well having a new cast, original director Kenny Ortega will not be returning to the project.

Original producer David Kirschner returns as executive producer, while the script will be written by Scarlett Lacey (The Royals).

The decision not to bring back the original actors who played the Sandersons hasn’t gone down very well with many fans, who were looking for a proper sequel, rather than a remake.

Naturally, many expressed their displeasure on social media – as this quick search for “Hocus Pocus” shows
