As with anyone in the public eye, there has been plenty of speculation about pop star Demi Lovato’s relationships and sexuality in recent years.

The singer has always dismissed speculation about her orientation, and when rumours recently spread after she was photographed holding hands with another woman she slapped them down as “irrelevant” in an interview soon after.

An article that pretty much ordered her to be open about her sexuality seemingly united the internet in opposition.

But speaking on Jonathan Ross’s couch, she revealed a crush that many viewers may not have been expecting: Barney the Dinosaur.

Lovato appeared in Barney & Friends as a child actor, and admitted that she had a crush on Barney… or at least the man who played him.

“Barney is weird but he was really cute, the guy in the suit was hot and I had a crush on him,” she said.

“The suit is [heavy] so you have to be ripped to carry it around, so he was fit and he had a good face. He was a dream boat.”

On her love life at the moment, she said: “I’m dating. I’m just having fun right now.”

And on being with British men, she added: “I wouldn’t say dated… I’ve hung out with [them].

“It’s really funny because when they dirty talk it’s really proper. Grammatically correct and proper. Like ‘Would you like me to do this?’ and you’re like, ‘Yes!'”

Fans wanting some R-rated Demi Lovato action for themselves could also find it in an unexpected place, as she pitched the idea of an adult Camp Rock sequel.

“I came up with the idea that we should do an R rated Camp Rock 3,” she said.

“It’s the adults only one. I don’t know if you’ve seen American Pie but, without the pie… I would love to do it.

“I think it would be hilarious if the camp counsellors were sneaking out and partying. If my character, Mitchie, has a pregnancy scare, make it scandalous.”

During the interview, Lovato also spoke about her addictions and the final intervention from her family that made her decide she need to get help and get sober.

You can watch Demi Lovato’s interview in full this Saturday, September 30 on The Jonathan Ross Show at 9.30pm on ITV.

Also appearing on the show are James Arthur, Holly Willoghby, Martin Clunes and Henry Fraser
