Hugh Jackman is voting Yes for same-sex marriage and so is his wife
The divisive postal vote on same-sex marriage in Australia is still ongoing, and now one of the country’s most famous stars has confirmed that he’s backing the proposal.
In a post on Twitter this week, Hugh Jackman confirmed that he and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness would both be voting in favour of same-sex marriage.
“We believe all Australians deserve to be treated equally under the law That’s why Deb & I are voting YES #equality and #love!” Jackman said.
The actor’s support for same-sex marriage comes as no surprise, as he has long been in favour of a change in the law for greater equality.
As long ago as 2012, Jackman joined a number of Australian celebrities to announce his support for same-sex marriage.
“Marriage should be about love and respect, not discrimination,” the marriage equality declaration read.
“Australia is at its best when we value equality over prejudice and fear. That’s why we support marriage equality for same-sex couples.
“Marriage equality will help remove discrimination against same-sex couples and their children.”
It continued: “It will also benefit marriage by allowing it to embrace more loving committed couples who uphold its values.

“It’s time for Australia to join the other nations that have benefited from this important reform.”
In 2011, Deborra-Lee Furness said that rumours Jackman is gay are “tragic” and that they “don’t pay much heed” to them.
Later, the Wolverine star admitted that the rumours “bug” his wife.
