Muslim radio host Maajid Nawaz slams parents threatening lawsuit against school over trans student
Maajid Nawaz has slammed parents who have threatened legal action against their children’s school for allowing a trans child to wear a dress in class.
The Muslim radio host launched an impassioned rant against parents Nigel and Sally Rowe after they pulled their two sons out of the Church of England School and threatened legal action over a trans student in their six-year old’s class.
The family are being represented by the Christian Legal Centre, who notoriously take on anti-LGBT cases and support so called “gay cure therapy”.
They claimed that by allowing the student to wear a dress and not notifying the parents then their rights had not been respected.
In a video for the law firm, Nigel Rowe said: “A child aged six would sometimes come to school as a girl or sometimes come to school as a boy.
“Our concerns were raised when our son came back home from school saying he was confused as to why and how a boy was now a girl.
“Boys are boys and girls are girls. Gender dysphoria is something we as Christians need to address with love and compassion, but not in the sphere of a primary school environment.”
Andrea Williams, chief executive of the centre, said about the case: “This new transgender ideology is being aggressively imposed on unsuspecting schools, parents and children. It is delusional and abusive.
“School classrooms, which should be one of the safest environments for children, are rapidly becoming dangerous battlefields in a war brought on by a radical transgender ideology. Vulnerable children are being used as pawns and will be harmed the most. We need to call it what it is.”
Nawaz slammed Williams over her transphobic view and said the family were wrong to pull their children out of the school.
He started: “It’s this centre called Christian Legal Centre and its chief executive, Andrea Williams, has said “This new transgender ideology is being aggressively imposed on unsuspecting schools.” OH! Aggressively imposed?
“A bit like forcing schools to follow your biblical teachings, that’s aggressively imposed. The irony of it. It’s “delusional and abusive”, this chief executive said. Yeah a bit like forcing kids to believe that if they don’t comply with you biblical values according to you they’re going to be punished by God.”
Nawaz, who has consistently championed LGBT+ rights on his LBC show went on to say that if the parents were so worried by people wearing dresses then they should probably stop attending church.
“You’re worried about a kid turning up to school in a velvet blue dress and yet you take your kids to a church and the man speaking in God’s name is wearing a dress. And you’ve got a problem with that?
“What do you call it when a vicar is kicked out of a church? they say vicar has been defrocked. Why do they say vicar has been defrocked? Because he’s wearing a frock. He preaches God’s word wearing a dress. And you’re upset this kid came to school wearing a dress because it’s not biblical values?
“Start with your church. Why don’t you withdraw your kids from the church because the man teaching them God’s law is wearing a dress. Unbelievable,” he finished.
